NEW YEAR EVE!!!

Woawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....

It's the end of the year already... *damn happy* MUAHAHAHA...
End of this year 2005, start a new year 2006. Meaning, starting a new beginning life for ME. That's RIGHT! A new life, a whole new start, like when you press that 'RESET' button behind the 'tamagochi' thingy. Then new born egg and baby dino will appear, just this time, I'll press the RESET button somewhere and pooooooooooooooffffff NEW ME. Hopefully things go around the round about. *psyche*

Everything has a cycle. Example, period comes and go in a cycle; the toilet paper we used; can drinks (tin kosong); bottles; LIFE.

Have you seen how a butterfly evolve from an ugly caccon into a B-E-A-U-tiful butterfly? Awwww.. what a scene.. That's why I love butterfly so much.

In life, nothing comes free and easy. First, we taste the bitterness. Next comes the sourness. Soon, it's the saltiness. After all the yucky bitter, sour sour (s'ng s'ng) and kiam kiam (salty) experience in life, something as sweet as sugar will come ahead.

Being a positive minded person, we shouldn't look at the yucky side of life, instead we should beyond it. But we cannot only look at the bright side and ignoring the disadvantages. Being cautious in what ever we do and in whatever we believe in is the most important aspect of life. You may mark me wrong but how many of you think that what I've said is wrong you may lift up your leg (angkat kaki not angkat tangan).

Wow.. can't belief I just typed all those. Ngahahaha.. Left 8 hours before I transform into a butterfly. A new beginning and a new chapter of Anna's Life. There is nothing that can stop me from being the way I want.

Therefore, I've listed some aims and motives or objectives for my new chapter of life. Vision ANNA (not vision 2020). kekeke.. *evil grin*

As what most call it, the New Year's RESOLUTION. My new year's resolution would be... *drum rolls till drum roll into the jamban*

  1. Complete my Diploma by Sept-Oct
  2. At least 100 sms daily (keeping in touch with my be-wooo-ved friends)
  3. No more cold stares and chasing at other drivers who overtaked me
  4. Be as punctual as possible
  5. Be as holy as possible, but not too holy too
  6. Smile always
  7. Cut sleeping time from 15hours to 10hours (during holidays)
  8. Get a job
  9. At least 3 posts a week
  10. More junk food rather than healthy food
  11. Save money
  12. Don't spend too much money on food
  13. *ooo.. No. 13, I'll keep it till here.*
Anyway, I went to Kenyalang earlier today to buy some materials for my *ahem* new project. To my surprise, there are many small little stalls being put up and there's something going on tonight. My parents new about the CountDown event organised by the Council *don't know what council le. Like I give a toooot* hmmm.. Kenyalang first time hold an event such as this. Well, I kind of 'looking forward' for tonight's countdown. I wonder how is it going to be..

Christmas Testimonials

I wanted to send everyone in my friendster list a christmas greeting as testimonials. Everyone's been doing it. So I just join in the fun. I went to look for a nice tree. After that I add in my own Christmas poem which I found in some Christmas Card I collected. (I collect tones of stuff)
After all the copying and combining, the testi looked like this:

With best wishes for Christmas & the New Year

in unexpected places.

May you feel peace

May you find comfort

After I added altogether 998 people in both of my accounts, I went to see how the testi I sent looked like. To my surprise it looked like this:

Sad and dissappointed with the result, I post in the buletin how it's suppose to be.
Wuu Wuu Wuu.. Why it din't turn out to be the way I wanted it to be??

Anyway, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year...

Tang Yuan Festival

Tang Yuan are round balls of glutinous rice (sticky rice), sometimes rolled around a filling of sesame, peanuts, vegetable, or meat. Some are sweet and some are not.Tang Yuan are often cooked in red-bean or other kinds of soup. The round shape symbolizes wholeness and unity.

I went through many websites about Tang Yuan. There are all talking about tang yuan is one of the dish during the winter and connected to the Lantern Festival. hmm.. Weird ne..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I came across an article from The Star. Check it out below:

‘Tang yuan’ to welcome winter

PENANG: Today, the Chinese celebrate Dong Zhi or the Winter Solstice Festival, marking “the arrival of winter”.

FAMILY EFFORT: Ong B Chen (left) and her sister B Bee making the ‘tang yuan’ in Georgetown Wednesday.
One of the must-haves for the festival is the marble-shaped tang yuan, or glutinous rice ball.

The name of the traditional dessert carries much meaning for the Chinese as it sounds like tuan yuan (reunion).

Yuan, which means “round” or “a circle”, is also an auspicious word that suggests yuan man (perfection).

As such, said tang yuan-seller Ng Suan Kooi, families would gather together on Dong Zhi in the old days and make the glutinous rice balls to remind themselves that they were a family unit.

“But now modern families are too busy to make the effort to prepare the dough, cook the syrup and make the tang yuan themselves. This is where we come in to do the job for them,” she said.

Ng, 50, who has been selling tang yuan for 12 years at Pulau Tikus here, said the sweet dessert was especially popular during the festival.

“It’s more convenient for people to buy ready-to-eat ones instead of going through the hassle of making them.

“During the festival itself, I have to use 60kg to 70kg of dough to cater to the huge demand compared with 1kg on a normal day,” she added.

She said the dessert had grown even more popular these days.

“Instead of eating it once a year, you can now get tang yuan any time,” she added.

In the Chinese calendar, the festival falls six weeks before Chinese New Year. A popular expression among the older Chinese to refer to the end of a year and the coming of the next one is: “Chi tang yuan, da yi nian (Eat tang yuan and grow older by a year).”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For this year's Tang Yuan Festival, I made some tang yuans too.

First, mix the glutinous rice flour and water.

Roll the 'dough' into small little balls.

Boil the little balls. After that, mix with peanut powder and sugar, or just add sugar into the soup.

Chocolate Cherry Cookies with no Cherry

So lazy want to wake up this morning. I forced myself up. I've planned to bake cookies eversince last last month. Today's the day to do it. If not, I'll never gonna do it.

After my shower, I went to the kitchen. Took out all the ingredients needed for the cookie recipe.

The recipe:

Chocolate Cherry Cookies

1 ½ cups all purpose flour

½ cup unsweetened Hershey’s cocoa powder

½ cup butter

1 cup sugar

¼ tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 egg

1 ½ tsp. vanilla

48 maraschino cherries

glaze (recipe below)

Combine flour and cocoa powder; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer until softened. Add sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour mixture.

Shape dough into one-inch balls. This can be done easily by dipping up small amounts of dough with a cookie scoop; then roll into balls with your hands. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press down the center of each ball with thumb. Drain maraschino cherries, reserving juice. Place a cherry in the center of each cookie. (If cherries are large, you may wish to cut them in half, placing cut side down.)

Bake in a 350 degree oven about 10 minutes or until edges are set. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely. Spoon about 1 tsp. glaze over each cherry, spreading to cover the cherry.

(An alternate method I tried was to spoon on glaze and then add a cherry on top of each cookie before icing sets up, instead of placing them on the cookies before baking. This makes them more colorful for Christmas.)

Glaze:

1 (1-oz.) square unsweetened chocolate (or 3 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder)

2 tbsp. butter (if using cocoa powder, increase amount of butter to 3 tbsp.)

3 tbsp. milk

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 or 2 tbsp. reserved cherry juice

Stir chocolate (or cocoa), butter, and milk in saucepan over low heat until all is melted. Take off heat and stir in powdered sugar until smooth. Add enough cherry juice to make it of the desired spreading consistency.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got all the ingredients except the cherries. So, I'll just make chocolate cherry cookie with no cherry. XD!! ok also le..

I mixed all the ingredient into a dough and get the place ready to shape the dough into small little balls. I asked my brother to help me. Hiak hiaks..

He do the rolling, I do the forking.

It took us about 1 hour or so to complete baking. And the result can be seen below...

So called St3 Graduates Gathering

It's 6.30 when I called Gel. She told me her parents not home yet. Not sure if can get car or not. Later at about 7pm, I called again. She told me she can't get the car, so since victor offered to pick all 5 of us, ALL 5 OF US, i 'fong sam' lo. hehe.. Called Yomi and told her to get ready, Gel and Vic going to pick her.

While waiting, I went to join my brother watch tv.
bRo: heh.. u're gonna get picked at 8pm. MUAHAHAHAHA..
me: -..-# hish.. i think so. MUAHAHAHAHA..
bRo: *watching*

me: aiyo... seriously gonna be 8.
bRo: *watching* no need to go liaw la.
me: *gave him a cold look* haiyo.. maybe lo..
bRo: *watching*
me: kimak.. i hate waiting.

***honk honk***

me: MUAHAHAHA.. *shakes bro's butt, points at the clock*
bRo: waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaD?
me: it's not 8. MUAHAHAHA.. *leaves the room*

In the car, aiyo.. dunno how to describe Yomi expression le.., neway, after picking me, we went to pick Elea then ahGe. After that, we headed to st3. No... the gathering's not there. We went there to meet up with Sophia Wong. She don't know where's Davina's house, so she tailed behind us.

Since it's a pot luck party, all of us.. ALL OF US.. din't bring anything. So we planned to stop by at Hui Sing to get something. We bought one packet of Fried Kueh Tiaw and a packet of Fried Mee in a No. 19 stall as recommended by ahGe.

We arrived at Davina's at 8.40pm. The party suppose to start at 7pm. We were late in a very special way. XD As we walked in, everyone looked at us, then turn their heads back to the tv screen. *ada rasa shiok jugak le*

Somehow, they were waiting for us to start. It's 8.40pm!! And they were all sitting and chatting waiting for us to arrive. Wahliu.. Rasa tua liap arr.. Kakakaka.. Kecian them also le.. Starve till then. In the car already I complain hungry, what more to say them.

The moment I stepped into the house. I'm very very very VERY SURPRISED. Not to see everyone but the number of people. *Hey, where's the party??*
I mean, isn't it suppose to be a ST3 GATHERING? Including 6 of us, there are only about 16 of us. Fuhhh... Imagine we din't make it. *dare not comment more on the 'gathering'*

We sat there for only 20minutes and it felt like we've been there like for hours!!

Food's ok.. Ice cream *scratch head.. SxxK*

It's like what we all expected. Everyone will be in their own group talking bout their own stuff. Hmm.. Kononnye la is gathering. I talked to some people, KENAK BSKL.

-..-@#%&(#!! kimak

But me and gel just do our thing, take pictures. *chik chak chik chak chik chak*

We took a few group pictures using ahGe's camera.

When Karol left, we took the opportunity to get outta there. Gel, Soph and I hurried out. Waving at everyone and saying bye, we wore our shoes and cabut. Soph went to reverse her car while Gel and I took somemore pictures outside. Trying to get the sight of the church behind us. *err.. gelap le..*

We all went into Soph's car and headed to Hui Sing to meet up with Vic (aka Victoria.. XD!!!) Poor Vic, his friends ditched him for King Kong. They're gonna regret. HaHaHa.. While his friends watch King Kong, he get accompanied by 6 girls. Not bad also le.

We went back to the Hui Sing stalls. Elea wanted some ice. We found ourselves a corner and made orders. I din't wanted any coz I'm so bloated. I can still remember what everyone had. Yomi and Soph had Longan, Angel and Elea had Jagung Peng (Gel's with extra jagung), ahGe ordered Lucky Strike (a combination of Longan and Jagung plus no pink syrup) and Vic had teh-C-peng.

ahGe asked Yomi bout the prom she went. Yomi was telling from the beginning till the end about the prom. I got so excited at the ending part. /gg
Yomi was telling about Mike (her bf) experiencing odd things. *U shud noe wad i mean**winks*

I was saying that the two of them in the park at 12.30am, anything can appear or happen. Then she told us that actually the most cun timing is 3am. Since 3am is the opposite time of 3pm when Jesus died. It's the mockery time. Something like that. From there, she started telling about Exorcism of Emily Rose. Soph got scared and moved her seat to between me and Elea.

Everyone wanted her to stop telling except me. /gg I wanted to know more... But the rest made her stop. /sob

We sat there till almost 11pm. We were the only 'customers' left sitting there. So, we made a move. Elea, ahGe and Yomi followed Soph's car, meanwhile Angel and I went off with Vic. On the way to Vic's car, Gel told me bout the story Nel told her and Elea. In the car, on the way home (my home le), we were talking it. I still cannot understand how can all these Emily Rose thing happened. By the way, I'm downloading Exorcism. ngekekeke..

They say that the sounds in the movie was recorded from the real 'thing'. The sound of the 6 demons. I wonder how that can be recorded... What a mystery in my mind and I'm so curious to know more about it...
