:+: Aladin Cafe :+:

***Very short and simple post. Posting from Coll's lab***
Vivian smsed me to lunch a couple of days ago. Accompany her to a blind dat (just some new friends she knew from somewhere, somehow). To a special place called Aladin Cafe. I've heard of this place many times but I've never been there.
Aladin Cafe is located in the Carpenter Street. I don't like going to Carpenter Street as they are a lot of cars there and it is very hard to find parking plus it's very jam!

Anyway, to get to Aladin Cafe, just turn in at the Old Post Office.

From the Post Office you can start eyeing for a parking spot. The cafe is not far from the Post Office.
Look UP (yes atas) for the sign board, 'Aladin Cafe'.

Indeed in Carpenter Street, the shops are at least 100 years old (exagerating). Probably at least 50 years old. It is very Chinese-Buddhist inside. There were lots of people eating there.

Turn left turn right.. I looked around the cafe many times, but still can't spot Aladin. Mana dia??

Mari makan..

The Chicken is SUPERB!! Have you tried 'Leng Pua' (Cold Dish with Special Steamed Chicken that has alcohol taste). The liquor smell from the chicken is seducing. A bite into the chicken is.. Heavenly!!! They poured this special thick light brownish alcoholy (Chinese White Wine) sauce on the chicken. The soup served is the Szechuan vegetable soup. The typical chicke rice sauce: minced chilli with garlic and lime juice sauce. Geng!

I was told that their Fried Chicken is very SEDAP!! They only do the fried chicken at night. I would find a chance to cuba cuba one night. kikiki..

:+: Ting's Noodle House :+:

Went to Ting's Noodle House with Vivian few weeks ago.
Located just opposite Grand Continental Hotel. It is one of those Taiwan kind of Cafe that serves handmade noodles.

Every time I go to a Taiwan like cafe, I always order Green Tea also known as Jasmine Tea. The Green Tea here is special as they blend the tea with ice and you get Ice Blended Green Tea.

Come here sure eat their famous noodles lor.. Their noodles are all handmade. Love their noodles as the noodles are very Q and the soup is sweet. Somehow, there's a bit of Bovril taste in it. Kekeke... Probably they use it as their beef stock. My mum sometimes uses Bovril when she cook Beef Stew. In short, the beef noodles here very sedap but I still prefer the Gu Bak Mee over at Spring Garden.

Wo Tieh also known as Fried Dumpling is one of my favourite Taiwanese food. At RM4.00 you will get 6 dumplings in a boat-shaped bowl. Eat wo tieh must must must eat with vinegar and ginger or some prefer light soya sauce with garlic. I prefer eating dumplings with ginger and vinegar.

I still remember there's one Wo Tieh stall in the old Da Light Food Court. Selling at RM4.00 for 10 dumplings but in those polystyrene container. That was the best Wo Tieh I ever tasted. Too bad they moved. boo hoo..

Kimchi
is one of the Korean delicacies. Surprisingly they serve Kimchi here. As curious as a cat, I ordered a plate @ RM3.50. Frankly, they should just stick to Taiwanese.

Their Kimchi... Fail

What does it taste like?
Well, according to my 'sense', the cabbage is preserved with vinegar, sugar and salt. Later, when someone (Me lor) orders Kimchi, they take out the cabbage mix with some so-called-spicy chillies. Overall, it does not taste like Kimchi at all. Looks the same but taste different. Furthermore, it doesn't stink. Kimchi should stink because it is fermented.

Got bored and played around with the new fonts I've just downloaded. Kekeke... Nenek always say don't waste food. We didn't finish the Kimchi 'coz it's Yerkz..

The cafe has many cool deep deep meaningful Calligraphies.

I like this the most.
QQ Noodle makes the Eater Happy.

LL Banana Leaf is a South Indian Cafe. The taukeh-nio's name is Lucy. How I know? I know lar.. Yerdeh~

History:
Long long time ago, in the Satok Land, there was a man who worked there. That man is my Daddy. When he first graduaded from Uni (far far away from Kuching), he started working for some firm in the same block as LL Banana Leaf. So, he came here for lunch very often. Therefore, know the taukeh-nio name lor. He Likes their Mutton Curry till this present day. And his love for mutton curry was carried down to his daughter, me lor..

Actually hor, come to LL Banana Leaf sure eat banana leaf lo...
Kekeke.. I'm SERIOUS *giving a very serious face*. Here in Lucy's, they are famous for their Vegetarian Banana Leaf. First they set a piece of clean banana leaf in front of you. Then, you take a piece of tissue and gulung with the banana leaf and start eating that way.
grok grok..

.___________.

The tissue paper is to dry your leaf lar.

When your leaf is dried, they will start serving vegetables. Lots and lots of vegetables. You can mintak manyak manyak if you like to. After all, this Vegetarian Banana Leaf is like buffet just not self service. You can ask for refill as long as you can finish them.

There are two types of rice for you to choose, Nasi Briyani and Plain White Rice. I chose Plain White Rice because the Nasi Briyani alone got bermacam-macam goodies in it and there's so many veges and curry to go with. How to eat? Just keep it simple, plain white rice will do just fine. (:

A: Spinach
B: Long beans
C: Money Chai and Pumpkin
D: Spicy Ikan Bilis
E: My favourite Yummilicious No. 1 Spicy Pineapple
F: Cucumber and Tomato pickles
G: Papadham Best cracker in the world
H: My favourite Mutton Curry
This mutton curry does not come with the 'buffet'. Hence, it's called Vegetarian Banana Leaf. The mutton curry is additional dish. This is a must EAT dish when you come to Lucy's.

This is Asam Curry Fish. It's spicy and sour. I'm not sure what's the fish they use, but one thing for sure, there's something fishy in there. kekeke...

This is their special drink. I never knew they serve such NICE YUMMYLICIOUS drink till Gladys ordered it. It taste exactly like the yoghurt drink you buy from Supermarket, just that it tastes fresher and nicer here. I'll order one of this when I go to Lucy's next time.
I like these two pictures and I can't decide which to upload so I uploaded both. Kekeke...

This one everyone knows what it is and how it tastes like. But in Lucy's, their Teh Tarik is NOT SO EXAGERATING DIEBETES SWEET unlike those mamak who like to taruh (put) LITRES of condensed milk into the tea before they start pulling (tarik the teh). You can taste that they not only use condense milk but also creamer milk (eg: Ideal Milk) giving it creamy milky taste without being TOO sweet. I like.

I didn't get any refill though. My cousin and aunty did. (Tua Chiakness) XDD
When you're done eating, just fold the banana leaf in halves, but I terer go fold in threes. Kekeke..

Tok Janggut is a cafe that serves only HALAL food. In other words, NO POK I TELL U, NO POK !! Tok Janggut is famous for their Nasi Briyani (especially Nasi Briyani - Camel). Nasi Briyani is originally from India. Briyani is a family of Middle Easter, Southern Asian dishes made from a mixture of spices, basmati rice, meat, vegetable and yogurt (taken from Wikipedia).

:+: My Experience with KFC's Latest BURGER :+:

kfcI date my mum for lunch today. We wanted to try the new stuff since I got us some discount vouchers. There were so many people making order and most of them ordered the Alaskan Fish Burger. So, we thought it might be very good since it's such a SALE! That really convinced us to order the Alaskan Fish Burger too. We waited patiently for our turn to order.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It costs RM8.00 but with the discount voucher it's RM6.72 including tax.

Due to the good Fish Burger business KFC is having, we had to start our lunch with the coleslow while waiting for the burger.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
tadaaa... my lunchie. Looking good? The Burger looks much smaller and not as exciting as the ad.

After all the 5-8 minutes of waiting, our burger came. Excitedly, I opened my box and har??!! That's it?? It's okay, KFC's food never looked the same as it is on the ad. So I hold the burger up and it looks disgusting! yerkz..
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
yerkz... So slimy and eeeky..
Taste yucky too! The sauce tastes weird + funny = toilet visit

My mum ignored me and just *BITE*. Ewww.. My mum started to make funny faces and asked me if the fish is cooked or not. I looked at her fish and was shocked to find the fish's flesh looking transparent aka NOT COOKED!! My mum's fish is NOT COOKED!! I asked the waiter to change her burger but my mum was already 'put off' by the fish. So, she bought cheezy wedges. That's her lunch. kecian... What a date.. X3

a lil too cheezy, makes the wedges very slimy and eekie

P/S: Check your fish before eating plus I don't really recommend this meal.

:+: "BIGGEST" Beef Balls :+:

Always always always ask for what and how the food looks like and most importantly the size and quantity before confirming your order!

We had lunch over at Lam's Place. They have new items in the menu. So Lionel was interested in the Fried Beef Balls. We asked on how it's done. We were told that the beef balls would be deep fried. So ok..

This is the result of Fried Beef Balls:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Our lunchie: (Anti Clockwise)Raw Beef Meat, Chilli sauce, Fried Beef Balls, Rice

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
12 mini beef balls for 5 freaking bucks

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It's so small that it's the same size of the freaking soya bean card!

They should change the name to Fried Small Beef Balls. At least Lionel won't be so disappointed and I'll won't be laughing my head off.

Lunch at Tsui Hua Lau

Had lunch at Tsui Hua Lau with my collegemates. At first when my friend, Melisa suggested Tsui Hua Lau, we were like, wah lau... Tsui Hua Lau wor... The place is known for all the goodie goodie and expensive food. They serve Shark Fin Soup wor... Baby Kailan with Abalone orh.. Roasted baby Piggie wor..

Aiyerrrrrrrrrr.. Go there must eat those meh??

Since the new Tauke took over the place, now, they serve 'lunch food' (meat+rice).

The price is very reasonable and the drinks are averagely cheap too. [eg: can drinks RM1.60, Juice RM2.00, Chinese Tea RM0.50, etc..]

This is what I ordered. *drools* See how fleshy and juicy the duck is? It's very delicious but I don't quite like the sauce below the duck meat. It's super duper woooper SWEET aka extremely sweet.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Roasted Duck Rice (RM3.50)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Black Pepper Sliced Pork Rice (RM4.00)
The black pepper sauce is not like those where they buy the bottled black pepper sauce and fry with the meat. They use genuine black pepper and fry with the pork till pang pang (good aroma).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Honey BBQ Pork Rice (RM3.00)
You can really taste the sweetness and juiciness.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Crispy Roasted Pork Rice (RM3.00)
Damn crispy and damn nice.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Crispy Roasted Pork Noodles (RM3.00)
The noodles is Q-Q and very nice. FYI, it's mushroom sauce there with the noodles.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Honey BBQ Pork Ribs Rice (RM3.00)

All in all, the food's great and no regrets. Thumbs up!
