:+: Kin Jio Hiok :+:

LL Banana Leaf is a South Indian Cafe. The taukeh-nio's name is Lucy. How I know? I know lar.. Yerdeh~

History:
Long long time ago, in the Satok Land, there was a man who worked there. That man is my Daddy. When he first graduaded from Uni (far far away from Kuching), he started working for some firm in the same block as LL Banana Leaf. So, he came here for lunch very often. Therefore, know the taukeh-nio name lor. He Likes their Mutton Curry till this present day. And his love for mutton curry was carried down to his daughter, me lor..

Actually hor, come to LL Banana Leaf sure eat banana leaf lo...
Kekeke.. I'm SERIOUS *giving a very serious face*. Here in Lucy's, they are famous for their Vegetarian Banana Leaf. First they set a piece of clean banana leaf in front of you. Then, you take a piece of tissue and gulung with the banana leaf and start eating that way.
grok grok..

.___________.

The tissue paper is to dry your leaf lar.

When your leaf is dried, they will start serving vegetables. Lots and lots of vegetables. You can mintak manyak manyak if you like to. After all, this Vegetarian Banana Leaf is like buffet just not self service. You can ask for refill as long as you can finish them.

There are two types of rice for you to choose, Nasi Briyani and Plain White Rice. I chose Plain White Rice because the Nasi Briyani alone got bermacam-macam goodies in it and there's so many veges and curry to go with. How to eat? Just keep it simple, plain white rice will do just fine. (:

A: Spinach
B: Long beans
C: Money Chai and Pumpkin
D: Spicy Ikan Bilis
E: My favourite Yummilicious No. 1 Spicy Pineapple
F: Cucumber and Tomato pickles
G: Papadham Best cracker in the world
H: My favourite Mutton Curry
This mutton curry does not come with the 'buffet'. Hence, it's called Vegetarian Banana Leaf. The mutton curry is additional dish. This is a must EAT dish when you come to Lucy's.

This is Asam Curry Fish. It's spicy and sour. I'm not sure what's the fish they use, but one thing for sure, there's something fishy in there. kekeke...

This is their special drink. I never knew they serve such NICE YUMMYLICIOUS drink till Gladys ordered it. It taste exactly like the yoghurt drink you buy from Supermarket, just that it tastes fresher and nicer here. I'll order one of this when I go to Lucy's next time.
I like these two pictures and I can't decide which to upload so I uploaded both. Kekeke...

This one everyone knows what it is and how it tastes like. But in Lucy's, their Teh Tarik is NOT SO EXAGERATING DIEBETES SWEET unlike those mamak who like to taruh (put) LITRES of condensed milk into the tea before they start pulling (tarik the teh). You can taste that they not only use condense milk but also creamer milk (eg: Ideal Milk) giving it creamy milky taste without being TOO sweet. I like.

I didn't get any refill though. My cousin and aunty did. (Tua Chiakness) XDD
When you're done eating, just fold the banana leaf in halves, but I terer go fold in threes. Kekeke..

:+: Pictureless :+:

Can you all imagine blogging about food without pictures??

It's going to be so hard to describe how the food/drinks look like. A simple picture of it can tell a thousand words. Fuhh..

For example:

It is long and hard. It's best when it's fresh, young and hard. Each time it goes in and out, in and out, many many times in and out until it turn soft and out of juice. It will produce sweet and refreshing juice. It tastes the best when it's freshly made. If it's old and soft, forget about it. The juice would be very limited and there's no point milking juice out of it. Albeit, the juice ain't as sweet as the young hard ones.

This is one of my favourite drink.

Now now, in your opinion, what is the name of this drink?

There's no picture for it yet. Therefore, use your imagination and creativity.

** Special thanks to Gladys for reminding me about this special drink when we were out of water and hunger in thirst during our little hike at Mt. Singai. **

:+: Okui.Net :+:

First of all, many ThankS to Okui.Net (Streamyx). Eversince the Rainbow hugging the Sun incident, I can't seem to online as smoothly as before. I can't even upload new pictures for my previous post!! ARGHH!!! Is it caused by the weather? The cables got dried up?? Did the ants drink up the ports?

I've made several calls of complaints to their Okui.Services @ 1300-88-9515. Finally, (last night) they decided to send over the technician to check on the problem TODAY.

UNFORTUNATELY
, they never came and the En. Teknikal called and said that there are some problems with the area ports (Telekom Centre Simpang Tiga) and the cables need to be fixed. However, they can't do it ASAP as they need to contact the main office first and bla bla bla approval from somewhere bla bla bla pass to somewhere bla bla bla. Even En. Teknikal can't say when I can online as smoothly as before.

MATI LA!!

How can they do this to ME?! Now, I can't even stay online for more than 10 seconds, after 10secs DC, 10 secs later connected then DC again then ON again. My Okui.Net is so **cked up now. It's like our car's signal light. ON OFF ON OFF tip tup tip tup

No Internet
No Gunbound
No Blogging
No Chit Chatting

Can you imagine my life right now??

ARGH!!!!

*long piak*
A simple post as this post took me hours just to publish it.

:+: I Found a Pot of Gold :+:

The idea that a pot of gold can be found at the rainbow's end originated somewhere in old Europe. In Silesia, an obscure area of eastern Europe, it was said that the angels put the gold there and that only a nude man could obtain the prize. Hmm.....

That's because you're not naked! XDD

* * *
*sms ringtone*

Kelvin: Look at the sun now

hmmm.. Is this a prank? *~ Look at the sky... Sakai! ~*

annna: Y?

Kelvin: Smth happen to the sun, surrounded by rainbow. end of the world coming soon. hehe

.______________.
jia latt

Went out of the office and looked up in the sky, trying not to look like a sakai, while being watched by the nextdoor's kopitiam people eating their lunch.

AND I SAW THIS!!!

AND I WAS ALMOST 'BLINDED' BY IT!!!
:+: Picture edited by Kelvin :+:

Walked back to office while seeing white spots flashing *kacheek kacheek*

annna: Wa... So pretty. Wad happen? How can lidat?

Kelvin: dun knw. end of world. keke

*SMACK SMACK SMACK*

annna forwards the news to everyone in her phone list, ALMOST EVERYONE lar...

"Look at the sun! Rainbow around it!"

And the replies I get are all very creative...

Caleb: De sun's gonna fall.. Watch out

Uncle W: It's the end of the world.. aliens.. nuclear bomb exploding.. what do you think?

Mom: Why you do that. It nearly blind me.
.________________________.

Angel: Wah so nice! (I bet you'll be blogging bout it later)

Angel: So pretty! My daddy stop road side to let me snap snap haha (Of course must take picture of it! It's like once in a life time you see this!!)

Frankie: Wow! Thks! Take pic! (He so fast already blog about it. Click)

Esther: Eee really got la.. Cool.. Amazing. How could that happen?

The mystery of the Rainbow hugging the Sun with the mini moon is then answered.
Uncle W: My niece.. this is due to the cloud :)
Uncle W called: It's gonna snow! *laugh laugh*
Uncle W: Look into this site. It'll tell you why.

No. the Sun is not falling.
No. the aliens are not coming.
No. Nuclear Bomb did not explode.
No. Looking at the sun won't blind you.
No. It's not going to snow. It's Malaysia lar..

**more pictures coming..

:+: Happy Rice Dumpling Day :+:

Here's a happy looking Rice Dumpling.
Wishing all Happy Zhang (Rice Dumpling) Day~

Duan Wu Jie aka Dumpling Festival or Dragon Boat Festival is a day to remember the poet Qu Yuan, who was a loyal official in the court of the Chu Kingdom in old China. Other officials told lies about Qu Yuan to the emperor. The weak emperor believed the evil officials and asked Qu Yuan to leave the court. Over 20 years, the Chu kingdom got weaker. Qu Yuan was very sad that his beloved country was controlled by another country, the Qin Kingdom. He then decided to end his life by jumping into the river aka suicide. Fisherman who heard that Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river set sail on boats to look for his body. When they could not find it, they threw rice wrapped in bamboo leaves into the river so that the fish in the river would eat the rice instead of his body. The traditions of dragon boat races and eating rice dumplings on Duan Wu Jie thus begin.

Every year on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Lunar calendar (sometime in June as today), Rice Dumpling is specially eaten on this particular day. On this day too, the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated. I remember last time, we used to have those boat race at Waterfront, Kuching. But then, I don't hear about it anymore. *sigh*

:+: Nyonya Rice Dumpling @ RM2 :+:
This Bak Zhang is bought from a lady who sells at Kopitiams. We bought from her at Sin Poh Poh Kopitiam. Every Sunday, around 9am she'll be walking around the kopitiam with a basket of Panggang (Glutinous rice with sambal filling @ RM1) and a basket of Bak Zhang. We would buy from her everytime we have our breakfast there. Her Nyonya Bak Zhang is very delicious. Not too kiam siap on the filling too. A lot of meat in there. XD

Here's a picture of her. XD

:+: Apple Crumbles :+:

Presenting...

Apple Crumbles

Gladys guess it right from the previous post. *sigh* So fast de.

This is something you can make for Father's Day in a tea party or as a dessert.

Here's what you need:
  • 5 Apples
  • 250g Sugar (You can cut down to 180g, so it won't be too sweet)
  • 500g Flour
  • 250g Butter (Salted)
  • Cinamon powder
  • Lemon Juice

Method:

  1. Peel the apples and cute them into wedges. Then, slice them (about 0.3cm thick)
  2. Arrange them in trays or 'teng kat' (stainless steal containers).
  3. Squeeze some lemon juice and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  4. Shift the cinamon powder on the apples. (By using a shift, cinamon powder can 'spread' widely easily)

As for the crumbs,

  1. The ratio for the butter and flour is 1:2. If you use1 bar of butter (250g), your flour would be 500g.
  2. The ratio for the sugar to butter is 1:1. Therefore, your sugar is at the same weight as your butter (250g).
  3. Shift the flour and mix with the sugar.
  4. Add in the butter and mix gradually, then use your hands to mix them.
  5. Don't knead into dough!
  6. To get crumbles, rub the mixture in your hands as if rubbing your hands.

This makes 2 Mickey Mouse.
Bake at 180 degrees and at 30 minutes or until golden brown.

:+: A lil Surprise :+:

:+: Guarantee Makan :+:

In this picture, the young taukeh just put a big cardboard that says, "Bao Chi" aka "Bao Chiak" aka "Guarantee Makan" aka "Ready to be eaten".

Of course the taukeh say his honey dew is good, sweet, ripe, ready to be eaten and etc..

As a buyer, how do you pick a good honey and not get 'tipu' by the taukeh?

I would use my nose. If you can smell it's super sweet honey dew fragrance far away. Now, that's a good juicy sweet honey dew. If you can smell it, it's ready to be eaten and it sure is sweet. Tak ada bau, saya tak mau la. It's like picking a durian. Durian without smell, can you still enjoy eating it? You can't even call that a durian.
.___________.
So, do you know how to pick a good honey dew? Other than the nose method.

:+: Sarawak Laksa Ze` Best :+:

I was tagged by Criz a month ago. kekeke.. So, this is actually an expired post.

My Favourite Food is
~ LAKSA ~

"Sarawak laksa comes from the town of Kuching in the Malaysian state Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. It has a base of sambal belacan, sour tamarind, garlic, lemon grass and coconut milk, topped with bean sprouts, omelette strips, chicken strips, prawns, fresh coriander and optionally lime." - wikipedia -

Living in Kuching for 21 years, I am proud to be a Kuching-kia because we have the best Laksa. *bangga* If I have the chance to eat Laksa everyday, I would still enjoy it. However, cannot take too much Laksa ler. High cholestrol because of the coconut milk. No coconut milk in the Laksa no shiok wor. I live to eat wor.. Cholestrol pun cholestrol lar. Not like I'd live till the age of 100.

Pictures of Laksa to make you drown in your drools. *evil smile*

Does this Chew Chew Cafe (Chong Choon Cafe) Laksa looks familiar? Hehe.. This is the best Laksa in Kuching. Come Kuching MUST MUST MUST come to Chew Chew Cafe for their Special Laksa. The paste soup is kaw kaw, spicy spicy, salty salty, sour sour.. *high*

I go to Sin Poh Poh Cafe every Sunday with my family for breakfast. My grandpa likes the Kueh Chap there. He suka Special Kueh Chap with Pork Leg, I suka Laksa. Anyway, the laksa here is good and good. X)

Mei Mei Kopitiam is just next to my office. So, I often go over for my lunch whenever I crave for a bowl of Laksa. ngek ngek ngek.. This Laksa with it's sambal is damn shiok ok!

Madam Tang's Laksa is okay lar. One thing I don't like about it is the egg. I don't like boiled egg! yerkz.. I've tried their Laksa (Chew Chew Cafe menang), Beef Noodles (Spring Garden masih menang) and Nasi Lemak (Recommended).
